Taxation

The Constitution of India provides guidelines for all taxes to be levied by the central and state government. Municipalities and other local authorities also levy some minor taxes. Our legal services cover the following forms of taxation:

Income Tax

The Income Tax Act of 1961 passed by Parliament imposes a tax on individual and corporate incomes from house and property, business and profession, salaries, capital gain, and other sources.

Service Tax

The Government of India levies a tax on all services provided in India, except the State of Jammu and Kashmir.

Customs and Excise Tax

A duty is imposed on all goods manufactured or produced in India. Duties of customs, countervailing duties, and anti-dumping duties are also imposed on some goods imported into India.

Value Added Tax (VAT)

General Sales Tax Laws were replaced with new Value Added Tax Acts and the VAT Rules for proper administration starting from April 1st, 2005.
